A group of Citrus County underwater cave divers is taking action to warn others about the dangers of the sport.

ADM Explorations, an underwater cave diving crew, created signs for the Chassahowitzka River.

The signs show the Grim Reaper and list reasons why caution is necessary.

The signs will be in boats. They will also block underwater entrances into the off-shoot gaps to keep divers on the right path.

The signs come one week after a University of South Florida student, 22-year-old Amy Ryan, became disorientated in an off-shoot gap of a cavern and drowned.

"If we can help prevent one more death, then we've succeeded," said Walter Pickel of ADM.

The biggest factors in deadly accidents are inexperience and lack of proper equipment.

In the last 25 years, seven people total have drowned while diving in the Chassahowitzka River, the Eagle's Nest Cave dive in Hernando County and "Wayne's World" cave dive in Pasco County.
